Blend: 52% Pinot Noir, 48% Pinot Meunier
The Estate All Langham Estate wines are made using grapes grown at their single site in rural Dorset. The Crawthorne vineyard consists of 12 hectares planted to Chardonnay, Pinot noir and Pinot meunier. The site was carefully selected for its south facing slope, which is composed of the same chalk, clay and flint soil as found in the Champagne region. A long growing season and considerate viticulture ensures we harvest the finest grapes possible.
The grapes were picked early October and gently pressed, whole bunch, in a pneumatic press. Primary fermentation took place in a combination of stainless steel tanks and used oak barrels. We ferment a small batch of Pinot noir each year as a red wine. A dash of this red wine was added to the blend prior to bottling to achieve a deep pink colour and enhance red fruit characteristics. Following secondary fermentation the wine was left to age on yeast lees in bottle for a minimum of 30 months.
This wine is a delicate salmon pink colour with a fine stream of small bubbles and a rich nose of butter pastry and roasted strawberry. The palate is light and refreshing with cranberry and strawberry flavours reminiscent of summer fruit pudding. Enjoy on its own or with light seafood dishes.
